JEEP SAFARI ADVENTURE

ONE OF CORBETT'S MOST ICONIC RESIDENTS

Peacocks (Indian Peafowl, Pavo cristatus) are among the most captivating and frequently spotted birds in Jim Corbett National Park. The males display shimmering blue necks and magnificent tail feathers (trains), while the females, or peahens, are smaller with a subtle brown coloration. Together, they flourish across Corbett’s diverse landscapes—from open grasslands to dense, moist forests—offering visitors breathtaking sightings of India’s national bird amid the park’s rich biodiversity.

CUNNING HUNTER

Leopards are frequently spotted in Jim Corbett National Park, thriving across both the hilly terrain and dense lowland forests. Highly adaptable and smaller than tigers, these elusive big cats are often seen resting on tree branches, using their elevated vantage point to ambush prey with remarkable precision. Though sightings are rare and considered a special privilege, Corbett is home to a healthy leopard population, with numerous recent sightings shared across social media

CHALLENGING HUNT

Spotted Deer, or Chital, are among the most common and graceful animals in Jim Corbett National Park. They are often seen moving in herds across open grasslands, easily recognized by their reddish-brown coats adorned with distinctive white spots. Chital play a vital role in the park’s ecosystem as a primary prey species for tigers and leopards. Male deer are notable for their impressive antlers, which they shed and regrow each year. Most active during early mornings and late evenings, they feed on grass, leaves, and fruits. Their sharp, resonant alarm calls alert the jungle to approaching predators, making Chital sightings a memorable highlight for visitors.

FRIENDLY WILDLIFE

Jim Corbett National Park is home to two commonly seen primates: the lively and highly adaptable Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta), often spotted in large, vocal troops, and the elegant, grey-coated Hanuman Langur. Both species are not only entertaining to observe but also play an important ecological role, often acting as natural “alarm systems” by alerting deer and other wildlife to the presence of predators. During safaris, sightings are very common, as these monkeys thrive across Corbett’s diverse habitats. Their diet includes fruits, leaves, insects, and in the case of Rhesus macaques, a wide range of omnivorous foods.
